GB1GKA, Special callsign for 100TH Anniversary of PORTISHEAD RADIO

Those who hold amateur radio licences may be interested in contacting GB1GKA, a special callsign commemorating the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Portishead Radio/GKA receiving station in Highbridge, Somerset, on 29th January 1925.

Operation continues until 31st January and already over 400 contacts have been made worldwide.

Bands between 10m and 40m will be used and most contacts will be on cw from the QTH of former GKA R/O Larry Bennett G4HLN, not far from the former GKA site in Somerset.

QSL cards will be available for contacts, plus confirmation on LOTW and eQSL.
