Jos WARNIER (Belgium)

I started my professional carrier in 1972 as radio-technician at Coaststation “Antwerp Radio OSA” RMD-Radio Maritime Diensten (radio maritime services) from 1972  till 1979, (afterwards upgraded and moved to the transmission department ) RMD was a (small) departement of the RTT : Regie of Telephone & Telegraph, the Belgian Telephone Company in Belgium there were two Maritime Coaststations (with staff + headquarter at Ostend , Perronstraat nr 6).

*handling all traffic for Seagoing ships / Ferries: Ostend-Dover / Fishing fleet

-transmitting station located in  Middelkerke next to Ostende : coastal traffic

-transmitting station located at Ruiselede: for long distance DX traffic

-receiving station : Oudenburg  +/- 10 km away from Ostend

 OSA: Antwerp Radio

*handling traffic for all ships underway to port of Antwerp + all inland traffic on canals and rivers.

-transmitting station “Kruisschans” located at the “Boudewijn” and “Van Cauwelaert” docks

-receiving station located at “LO -Linkeroever -” leftbank of Antwerp.

Since 1972 amateur radio with callsign: ON6WJ; in the picture above (taken during festivities: “Sail Ostend” ) I back marconist for one day at the radio room of the Sailing&trainingship “Mercator”.
