Mike Carter (England)
I passed out from radio college in June 1964 with a first class pmg ticket. Started at sea in September with A.E.I. ltd (Siemens Ediswan Gear). Later joined Redifon Marine on small Shell Tankers (19,000 dwt). Came ashore in 1971 for 3 years, then went back in the Merchant Navy with I.M.R.Co. (ITT Marine) on various ships but mainly survey/submersible support vessels working mainly north sea. All pictures can be viewed on my QRZ.COM page under callsign M6MPC.
Finished Merchant Navy on 1983. Never touched a radio or morse key for 29 years until 2012 when I passed the UK foundation lincence. I also converted my old bug key ( unable to use as right handed) to lefthanded by drilling the base and yoke with 4 new holes then changing every part the other way round. It works very well. It took me 6 months to master the bug but it has been worth it. Bugs are not easy things to use, far harder than a twin paddle!!
