Photo taken shortly before my retirement in 2007. My last ship: R/V “Quest”/CZDO (part of the Naval Auxiliary Fleet out of Royal Canadian Naval Base Halifax, manned entirely by civilians like myself).

Those are five similar HF transmitters of 1kW each capable of all modes of transmission including MCW, yes MCW if you wanted to use it outside 500kHz! Tried it once in HF calling a coast station and got an immediate reply. No wonder!
