Spud Roscoe (Canada)

I served five years as a communicator supplementary (radioman special) rating in the navy 1956 – 1961, graduated from the Radio College of Canada, Toronto, Air Services Training School, Ottawa and the National Radio Institute, Washington, D.C. I was a radio operator at four Western Canada Airport Radio Stations, Radio Officer in twelve ships and retired from Halifax Coast Guard Radio VCS, Ketch Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada, in 1995. I held a first class certificate of proficiency in radio and a coast guard radiotelegraph operator’s certificate.

In the picture above me on duty in the SS GYPSUM PRINCE/GHYX. I salied in 12 ships over the years. In the radio room of them all: 3 Canadian Navy, 1 Canadian Icebreaker and 8 Merchant ships.
