Ugo CHELUCCI (Italy)

The First Class Radiotelegraph Certificate obtained in 1953

Ugo Chelucci was born in Trieste, but his life was spent entirely in Tuscany, in the town of Lucca. During his military service he began to cultivate his passion for radiotelegraphy and in 1953 he obtained the First Class International Radiotelegraph Certificate from the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications. In 1955 he began to embark on merchant ships, and almost all of his professional career took place mainly on board the ships of the Lauro Fleet. In 1961 he was on board M/T FEDE when she sank and in 1980 he was on board the M/V CAPRIOLO when the entire crew was forced to abandon the ship because she caught fire after a bombing during the war between Iran and Iraq. After this last painful episode he decided to ask for a well-deserved pension.
